As winter is approaching, we would like to invite you all to come ice-skating with us! No matter the level of skill; if you are a secret pro or never have been standing on a pair of ice-skates, you are most welcome to join!

Why Ice Skating in Sweden?

Ice skating has been an integral part of Swedish life for centuries, and it’s more than just a sport—it’s a cultural experience. In fact, some of the earliest ice skates, made from animal bones, were found in Scandinavia, dating back over 4,000 years. In a country where winters can be long and harsh, Swedes have long turned to outdoor activities like skating, both for enjoyment and survival.

One of the most famous types of skating in Sweden is long-distance ice skating on frozen lakes and rivers, known as "långfärdsskridsko". This tradition originated from the need to travel across vast frozen waterways during the winter months. Today, it’s a beloved pastime, offering a chance to explore nature and experience the beauty of winter landscapes if done outside, camaraderie and fun games if enjoyed indoors!

By going ice skating together, we’ll not only be enjoying an activity deeply embedded in Swedish tradition, but also embracing a fun way to stay active during the colder months.

Where: Angered Arena

When: Saturday 19/10, at 11.00.

How: Come as you are, preferrably wearing warm active clothes that you can move in. Ice-skates and helmet will be available for rent at the Arena, provided by Sebratec.

So, lace up those skates, bring a water bottle and/or hot drink, and let's get together for some winter fun! ❄️⛸️
