Whistleblowing

Whistleblowing is when an employee raises concerns about something illegal or unethical that is happening within their workplace. Whistleblowing is protected by Swedish law, meaning that employers cannot retaliate against employees who report such concerns.

Examples of concerns that may be treated as whistleblowing include:

  • fraud

  • corruption

  • health and safety violations

  • environmental violations, and

  • discrimination.

On the other hand, concerns that are not considered whistleblowing may include:

  • disagreements with coworkers or managers

  • personal grievances, or

  • minor policy violations
