 Whistleblowing

What is whistleblowing?

Whistleblowing is when an employee raises concerns about something illegal or unethical that is happening within their workplace. Whistleblowing is protected by Swedish law, meaning that employers cannot retaliate against employees who report such concerns.

Examples of concerns that may be treated as whistleblowing include:

  • fraud
  • corruption
  • health and safety violations
  • environmental violations, and
  • discrimination.

On the other hand, concerns that are not considered whistleblowing may include:

  • disagreements with coworkers or managers
  • personal grievances, or
  • minor policy violations

What do I need to think about when submitting a whistleblowing report?

If you are considering blowing the whistle on something at the workplace, it is important to remember that you have the right to do so without fear of retaliation. Before making a report, it is also important to make sure that your concerns are legitimate, well-founded and that you have all the necessary information to support your claims.

When making a report, be as specific as possible and provide as much detail as you can about the incident or behavior you are reporting. It is also important to keep any evidence you may have, such as emails or documents, that support your claims.

Remember that blowing the whistle can be a difficult decision, but it is the right thing to do if you believe something illegal or unethical is happening at the workplace. By reporting your concerns, you may help prevent harm to others and improve the overall safety and wellbeing at our workplace.
